melanoma and pregnancy
When I was diagnosed with melanoma and began interferon I was told that if I wanted to have babies in the future it shouldn't be a problem. We were advised to wait 6 months post treatment before thinking of having a family, we waited for a year and a half. I was on the pill due to low iron and went off it in July and we got pregnant in September with twins. I often get asked did the fact that I had so much treatment affect my pregnancy and the answer is no, I had a straight forward pregnancy with a lot of nausea but worked full time up until 28 weeks and felt like I could have worked longer but was advised to rest. My babies were born at 34 weeks which was the target from the day we found out we were having twins. We are all doing great with no new moles appearing during my pregnancy either.
