Melanoma and life insurance
We've been discussing life insurance for people who have been diagnosed with melanoma, the options are very few, it seems if you have been diagnosed less than stage 2 you can get life insurance but you will have to wait up to at least five years after diagnosis and still be NED, If you have been diagnosed stage 2 and above you would then after five years have to submit a histology report with information regarding
- The type, grade and stage (how early or advanced the cancer is) of cancer you had
- The length of time since your last treatment
- Your prognosis (what the doctor believes will happen to your health in the future)
But after asking a few "brokers" the chance of getting life insurance after a stage 2 or above diagnosis is pretty slim to none.
Now if you are over 50 you can get an over 50s plan and the best option seems to be Irish Life' for example 5000 cover (payable after 2 years) is around 16 euro per month.
